Commitment

1

The size of the bonito

In spring, young 2-3kg first-catch bonito; in autumn, richly fatty 4-5kg returning bonito, carefully selected by season.

2

Raw bonito from Kochi

Most Kochi bonito is pole-and-line caught, leaving it beautiful and undamaged. We ship our select bonito direct from the port.

3

Straw from Shiga

We use straw hand-cut ourselves from vast contracted fields in Nagahama, Shiga. Dried straw burns hot with the finest smoky aroma.

4

The grilling

Over straw flames reaching 1000 degrees, we sear a crust about 5mm into the flesh, then finish with residual heat to lock in flavor.

5

The thickness of the cut

Cut over 1cm thick so the straw aroma fills your mouth, brimming with bonito flavor and a springy texture.

6

Our chosen salt

A fully sun-dried salt handmade by artisans from Kochi seawater. We select larger crystals for a mellow mineral taste.

Service

01

Robata & Warayaki

How to enjoy Robata

Robata Story

01

Watch the flames from Nagahama straw

The straw is cut by our own hands at contracted farms in Nagahama, Shiga. Watch the flames and the aroma rise from local rice-field straw, right across the counter.

02

One slice, no salt and no condiments

Take the first piece plain. Let the sweetness of bonito shipped from Kochi and the smoky scent of the straw be the only things you taste.

03

Switch gears with rock salt and citrus

From the second slice, reach for the condiments, rock salt and citrus. Fatty autumn returning bonito and straw-grilled Omi beef sharpen as the salt goes on.

04

Taste local sake by the guinomi cup

Ten selected sake labels, four of them from Shiga: Daijiro, Kirakucho, Ichihiro and Shichihonyari. Compare them from 490 yen for a 100ml guinomi cup.

Enjoy a Worry-Free Dining Experience at Our Private Room Izakaya in Nagahama

A Safe Dining Experience in a Private Room Izakaya in Nagahama: Accommodating Allergies and Dietary Restrictions

Located in the heart of Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture, just a short walk from JR Nagahama Station, 'Robata to Nihonshu Uomaru Nagahama' is a seafood izakaya set in a charming, renovated traditional Japanese building. Here, you can enjoy fresh fish delivered directly from the fishing port and local Shiga Omi beef, dynamically prepared using the 'warayaki' (straw-grilled) method. With everything from lively counter seats to relaxing private rooms where you can dine without disturbance, we cater to a wide range of occasions, including solo diners, dates, family meals, and company banquets. For many, dining out is a daily pleasure and a way to celebrate special occasions. However, some guests have food allergies or specific dietary restrictions. For these individuals, choosing a restaurant where they can dine with peace of mind is of the utmost importance. If you're looking for a private room izakaya in Nagahama and prioritize food safety and security, we would like to introduce how our restaurant accommodates your dining needs.

Enjoying a Nagahama Private Room Izakaya with Peace of Mind: Addressing the 'Food Anxieties' of Our Potential Customers

The desire to enjoy delicious food with peace of mind is universal. For those with food allergies, or who avoid certain ingredients for health or religious reasons, dining out can be both a joy and a source of potential anxiety. Questions like, 'Does this dish contain any allergens?', 'Can they properly exclude the ingredients I cannot eat?', and 'To what extent can I discuss my needs with the staff?' often arise. It's difficult to fully enjoy a wonderful meal while harboring these doubts and concerns.

Our restaurant listens to these concerns and promises to make every effort to ensure that all our guests can fully savor the gourmet delights of Nagahama. For those who wish to dine in a relaxing, private room near Nagahama Station without worrying about allergies or dietary restrictions, let us show you the specific solutions we offer.

Especially when a diner has allergies, having an environment where they can discuss their dietary needs discreetly is very important. The privacy of a private room offers significant peace of mind for these sensitive conversations.

Our Concrete Initiatives to Provide the 'Peace of Mind' Unique to a Nagahama Private Room Izakaya

At our restaurant, we have several specific initiatives in place to ensure every customer can dine with peace of mind. We strive to be as flexible as possible in responding to requests regarding ingredients.

The Reassurance of a Calm, Private Room

As a 'Nagahama private room izakaya,' providing a private space is one of our key features. Discussing allergies and dietary restrictions with staff can sometimes be a sensitive matter. A private room, where you can have a thorough conversation in a calm environment without worrying about others, provides immense reassurance for our guests.

  • Privacy is maintained, making it easier to communicate detailed allergy information and dietary preferences.
  • Our staff can also take the time to listen carefully to your requests in a one-on-one setting.
  • You can consider your meal choices without being overly conscious of other guests.

Whether it's a family meal, a date with a loved one, or a company banquet, our private rooms guarantee a comfortable experience. They are especially ideal for families concerned about a child's allergies, providing an environment where you can focus on your meal without worrying about your surroundings.

Deep Understanding of Ingredients and Culinary Dedication by Our Skilled Chefs

Our signature dishes, such as sashimi made from fresh fish direct from the port and the 'warayaki' straw-grilled Kochi bonito and Shiga Omi beef, are all characterized by simple cooking methods that highlight the natural flavors of the ingredients. Our skilled chefs handle each ingredient with care, bringing out its best qualities. This 'deep understanding of ingredients' is the crucial foundation for accommodating allergies.

  • Our chefs have a clear understanding of which ingredients are used in each dish.
  • Simple cooking methods have the advantage of minimizing the use of unnecessary additives or seasonings that may contain allergens.
  • Upon request, we can more easily consider removing specific ingredients or suggest alternatives.

Because we are professionals who handle fresh, high-quality ingredients, we can make fine adjustments to suit your constitution and preferences. Please do not hesitate to ask our staff if you have any questions.

Ensuring Smooth Service Through Advance Consultation

To serve our dishes in the best possible condition, sharing information in advance is essential. At 'Robata to Nihonshu Uomaru Nagahama,' we strongly recommend that you inform us of any allergies or dietary restrictions when making a reservation. Consulting with us beforehand allows us to prepare more thoroughly and ensures a smoother experience when you arrive.

  • When booking, please inform us by phone (0749-63-6688) about the nature and severity of the allergy, and any specific ingredients to avoid.
  • This allows us to make adjustments to the menu or consider alternatives in advance, where possible.
  • Especially for group banquets with set courses, having allergy information for all guests beforehand ensures that service proceeds without a hitch.

We are open from 1:00 PM on weekends for daytime drinking, but advance notice is even more crucial during weekends and other expected peak times. We kindly ask for your cooperation to ensure your safety and satisfaction.

A Concrete Approach to Safely Enjoying the Flavors of Nagahama

Some of the dishes we offer can be enjoyed with relative peace of mind even by customers with allergies or dietary restrictions. Understanding the characteristics of our cooking methods should help you choose from the menu more confidently.

Leveraging the Characteristics of Warayaki (Straw-Grilling) and Zukuri (Sashimi)

Our signature 'Warayaki' (straw-grilled dishes) and 'Sengyo no Zukuri' (fresh fish sashimi) feature simple preparation methods that truly bring out the quality of the ingredients themselves. These methods also offer advantages when it comes to accommodating allergies.

  • Warayaki (Straw-Grilling): We flash-grill bonito from Kochi and Omi beef from Shiga over a powerful straw flame right before your eyes. This imparts a fragrant, smoky aroma while sealing in the natural umami of the ingredients. As these dishes are often enjoyed with simple salt or ponzu rather than complex sauces, it is relatively easy to avoid potentially allergenic sauces and dressings. We can also consider serving them with simple seasoning upon request.
  • Sengyo no Zukuri (Fresh Fish Sashimi): Our skilled chefs carefully prepare sashimi from fish delivered directly from the port. The best way to enjoy fresh seafood is to savor its natural taste. Since it's served with condiments like soy sauce and wasabi that you can apply yourself, it's easy to make choices that suit your needs. If you have an allergy to a specific type of seafood, please let us know in advance, and we will suggest alternatives from that day's catch where possible. For example, we also offer Yellowtail Belly Sashimi (880 yen).

Compared to dishes that mix a wide variety of ingredients, these cooking methods make it easier to identify and remove specific potential allergens. Please feel free to consult our staff when ordering.

Considering Pairings with Carefully Selected Sake

Another attraction of our restaurant is our extensive selection of carefully chosen sake from all over Japan, including local Shiga brews. While allergic reactions to sake itself are rare, some individuals may not tolerate alcohol well. Furthermore, some guests may wish to enjoy sake pairings even with their allergen-free dishes.

  • Extensive Lineup: We offer a wide variety of carefully selected sake (from 500 yen). Our staff can also recommend a sake that pairs well with dishes prepared to accommodate your dietary restrictions.
  • Non-Alcoholic Drinks: For those who prefer not to drink alcohol or are driving, we also have a selection of non-alcoholic beverages. Our unique service where you get a free drink if your chopstick wrapper 'omikuji' (paper fortune) is 'Daikichi' (great luck) can also be used for non-alcoholic drinks, so everyone can enjoy it.

We strive to propose the best drinks to match each customer's dining style.

Steps to Take Before Your Visit for a Worry-Free Experience

To ensure you have the best possible time at 'Robata to Nihonshu Uomaru Nagahama' without worrying about allergies or dietary restrictions, here are a few simple steps we recommend taking before your visit. This preparation will lead to a smoother and more satisfying dining experience.

Step 1: Provide Details When Booking by Phone

The most effective step is to provide specific information about your allergies or dietary restrictions when you call to make a reservation (0749-63-6688).

  1. Type of Allergy and Specific Symptoms: Please clearly state the type of allergy, such as 'egg allergy' or 'shellfish allergy.' Information on the severity of the reaction is also helpful.
  2. Ingredients to Avoid: Specifically listing ingredients to avoid (e.g., dairy products, wheat, nuts) makes it easier for our staff to check the dishes.
  3. Details of Dietary Restrictions: Please let us know the specific nature of your restrictions, such as vegetarian, halal, or avoidance of certain seasonings.
  4. Number of Guests and Affected Individuals: Letting us know who among your party has the allergy helps us respond smoothly. Especially when ordering a banquet course (from 5,000 yen), please provide the information for all participants.

Thanks to our convenient location within walking distance of JR Nagahama Station, we welcome many guests, especially on weekends. During peak times, having advance information allows for smooth coordination with the kitchen, enabling us to serve you without delay.

Step 2: Reconfirm Upon Arrival for Extra Peace of Mind

Even if you have provided information at the time of booking, we recommend mentioning it again to your server upon arrival. This allows for a final confirmation between you and the staff, ensuring the most reliable service.

  1. When being seated: After you are seated and your server greets you, please remind them, for example, by saying, 'I mentioned this when I booked, but I have a [food] allergy.'
  2. When reviewing the menu: As you look over the menu, please ask about anything you are unsure or concerned about. Our Japanese-speaking staff will be happy to explain.
  3. Final confirmation when ordering: When you place your order, making a final check that the chosen dish has been prepared to accommodate your allergy will allow you to await your meal with confidence.

We truly want our guests to enjoy their meal to the fullest. Through close communication, we hope to alleviate any concerns and help you create wonderful dining memories in Nagahama.
